The narrow wedge of land with a steep fall to the rear meant that solar penetration, views to neighbouring parkland, and a cohesive flow could only be gained by strategic use of the available space.
What is most impressive here is the designers’ willingness to pare the building back rather than overwhelm its location to gain the essential aspects of the brief.

A pleasing use of elemental materials – the heft of timber beams, earthy colour palate and a variety of subtle textures – give the façade a prominent look that also eases itself into the trees behind.
