Grange

Vibe Design Group

Worthy of a commendation, this residence has an elegance and understated tone as it sits comfortably within the streetscape and uses the site to successfully address the client brief, minimise the impact of the built form, and achieve beautiful interfacing external spaces. The creative use of soft landscaping and hard stand areas has cleverly addressed the difficult task of achieving an unobtrusive entry to a basement level garage from the street whilst still maintaining a human scale to the entry approach and the adjoining front courtyard area. The neutral material palette adopted both externally and internally achieves a feeling of subtle beauty as the spaces transition seamlessly from outside to in. The clever use of narrow windows and screening devices to the street façade create interest and allow for framed viewing to the external spaces. The judges certainly believed this was deserving of a commendation.
