An Australian holding company, LK Group, required assistance to redefine their shared space spanning across three floors of a 1970s building overlooking Albert Park. The brief was to create a practical office for a diverse group of companies sharing a common corporate culture. Each company was to be accommodated in ways that would preserve their unique culture, while facilitating cross-company collaboration with teams separated by floors and arbitrary floor plan, yet maintaining a level of a high-end, New York look and feel.
Veined marble, walnut timber tones, herringbone patterning, blackened ceilings and strong detailing create a depth of richness. But it is not only finish that sets this design apart, but the flexibility and longevity created through considered layout and forward planning. By understanding the client and the way in which they plan to grow, a space has been created where invisible borders encourage collaboration and light abounds. Flexible floor plates can be modified on-the-fly as each company – and the group’s dynamics – evolve. Despite limitations of defined tenancy boundaries, bold new visions of company culture can be created, facilitated by intelligent environment and unique working zones.
