Overlooking the San Remo Peer and Bridge, this project demanded a design sympathetic to its natural waterfront surrounds. The winning design transforms the old tired and drab heavy brick rendered structure into a light-filled beachside eatery with irresistible views, sure to become a regular stop for visitors to The Island.
Positioned to maximise outlook the simple rooflines, use of timbers, glass, natural tones and landscaping nestle the development softly into its environment. Timber and stainless steel treatment to balconies and stairs link the new with old whilst transforming the building into a modern and stylish eatery.
Internally, the polished concrete floors, open expansive interior, timber detailing, clean modern café fitout and expansive use of glass provide diners with an indoor/outdoor experience designed to maximise the connectivity to this beautiful coast side location.
This design has truly transformed this ‘old fish and chip shop’ into an iconic destination.
