Proudly occupying its place among landscaped gardens and retained coastal Moonah trees, ‘Tarakan’ delivers an idyllic, contemporary family retreat.
The design response ensures that internal living areas, recreational open space and lap pool are flooded with natural light. The reverse living configuration captures the extensive views from the primary living areas. Two distinct zones provides mum and dad some peace and quite away from the living and recreational spaces of the youngsters.
Externally the use of blackbox shiplap timber and stone detailing, in combination with a natural colour palette juxtaposed against zinc cladding and extensive glassing, provides a timeless form that will further receded into its environment as it ages over time.
Internally the layering of raw materials, stone, metals, timbers, fabrics, leathers and lighting results in a simple, relaxed yet sophisticated holiday abode. An ideal escape from city life.
