The judges believed this entry comprising four dwellings was worthy of a commendation, given that the master plan shows a great response to the natural surrounding vegetation and that the design also cleverly responds to the heavily treed site extremely well. The retention of the significant eucalypts has created a natural park-like feeling to the development which could not have been replicated had these trees been removed.
The use of timber and the muted tones to other building elements enable the dwellings to sit well into the site and the existing environment.
The interface to the adjoining properties has been well considered and provides large buffer zones to the boundaries between the new and existing neighbouring dwellings.
The open-plan design provides the owners with flowing living spaces and a great connection to the outdoor entertaining areas.
A commendation well earned.
