Quality of Planning Permit Documentation

Are your plans accurate that are lodged with planning permits?

BDAV has run a series of seminars and workshops over the years relating to the quality of planning permit documentation and building permit documentation.  A VCAT Red Dot Decision from June 2018 clearly shows the importance of permit applicants providing accurate information and the obligation for responsible authorities to determine whether satisfactory neighbourhood and site description has been provided before notice and determination of permit applications.

This case highlights the need for permit applicants to provide accurate plan information showing existing conditions in relation to the review site and neighbouring land. Responsible authorities also have an obligation to endeavour to ascertain the accuracy of information submitted to them by permit applicants before requiring any notice to be given and determining a permit application.
