The interim report from the co-chairs of the Victorian Cladding Taskforce was released on 1 December 2017, detailing the key findings and recommendation from the Taskforce aimed at addressing the use of non-compliant cladding in buildings.
The interim report identified that systems failures have led to major safety risks and widespread non-compliant use of combustible cladding in the building industry across the state.
A list has been drawn up of 1400 buildings that have combustible and potentially dangerous cladding.
The Victorian Building Authority will audit these buildings over the next 12 months in conjunction with the relevant local councils. Buildings that do not comply with requirements of the building code will have to be rectified.
